BrainTrainerPlus™ for residents of Schiehoven-Wilgenplas

After months of actively collecting money and donations the Monuta Charity Fund has been successful in purchasing a BrainTrainerPlus™ for the residents of Schiehoven-Wilgenplas nursing home. On Monday, 30th August between 14.00 and 15.00 Monuta joyfully presented the donation at the Schiehoven Brasserie. During the presentation there were a number of demonstration models of the BrainTrainerPlus™ which those present could practice on.

 

Various fundraising events
There were already two BrainTrainerPlus™ consoles in circulation within the De Stromen area. The success of the BrainTrainerPlus™ was so great that the supervisor of Schiehoven-Wilgenplas has taken the initiative to work with residents to raise money for their own Brain Trainer Plus ™. Including a flea market on Queen’s Day and the sale of used clothing and homemade baby clothes which are paying off. The donation from the Monuta Charity Fund made it up to the amount required to buy the BrainTrainerPlus™ from Qiosq.
Even elderly people can use a computer
Fun and relaxation are central to this touch screen computer, which has lots of games on it. The games focus on memory activation but also on training hand-eye coordination and reaction time. For the elderly, especially those with mild dementia, it is very important to continue this training. Using the BrainTrainerPlus™ also increases self-esteem. On the one hand it gives the elderly a good feeling that they too can use a computer, on the other hand they create their own success stories with the computer games.
Independently and in groups.
For people who do not like to participate in group activities, it is important that they remain active. With this computer, the residents of Schiehoven-Wilgenplas can work independently or with help from a caregiver. The advantage is that they can play at their own pace while doing something both varied and challenging. The computer is also used in groups. This promotes interaction and mutual contact. Both residents and carers are very excited that they now have a BrainTrainerPlus™ permanently available to them.
