BrainTrainerPlus™ for residents of ‘t Ronde Sant
October 11, 2010 | Ridderkerk Weekly Newspaper
The residents of t Ronde Sant nursing home can participate in a new activity today: games on a BrainTrainerPlus™. Through a donation from Rotary Ridderkerk de Waal and additional sponsorship from Romaro Cleaninggroup, ‘t Ronde Sant was able to purchase a BrainTrainerPlus™ from Qiosq. On Tuesday, 28th September the official transfer took place. There was also a demonstration of the BrainTrainerPlus™.
Fun and relaxation are central to this touch screen console, which has a lot of games. The games focus on memory activation but also on training hand-eye coordination and reaction time. For the elderly, especially those with mild dementia, it is very important to continue this training.
Using the BrainTrainerPlus™ also increases self-esteem. On the one hand it gives the elderly a good feeling that they too can use a computer, on the other hand they create their own success stories with the computer games. For people who do not like to participate in group activities, it is important that they remain active. With this computer, the residents at Ronde Sant can work independently or with help from a caregiver. The advantage is that they can play at their own pace while doing something that is both varied and challenging. The computer can also be used in groups. This promotes interaction and mutual contact. The BrainTrainerPlus™ was handed over on Tuesday by Hans van Seters, president of the Ridderkerk de Waal Rotary.
De Stromen is aimed at seniors, from active people aged 55 and over to those that need light or intensive care.
